For some reason, I was having a problem with my spam filter. Some of the comments that I receive get put in the spam automatically by the filter. I fish them out every day. These are known as false positives.
The problem is that my akismet filter was showing zero spam, even though I know that this is impossible, since I receive hundreds of spam comments all the time.
So I apologize to all of you who commented on my blog, and did not see it. It was stuck in the spam filter, which was having some type of problem, of which I do not yet know the details. I assume that it was a server problem, of some sort.
I did not delete your comments!
Anyway, the problem appears to be fixed. (sigh) It’s all good.
By the way, thank you Mark for debugging.

I’ll start checking mine to see if that happens. Thanks for the heads up.
I think it’s already a thing of the past. It’s happening again!Maybe that’s why none of my posts on Wit Or Wisdom are showing up anymore.
At first I thought drifter was just deleting them.
It’s that or the fact that you have a real way of irritating the hell out of people.
But perhaps it’s just a bug.
I can only speak for myself.
Hey, I’ve had a Christian friend of mine vet all my posts. He finds them pretty tame.
So it sounds like a personal problem.
:p
Jon, I cannot speak for anyone else. You will have to take up your beef with him on his own blog. I couldn’t care less dude.
This is my blog.
Just so you are made aware, some of your claims about Catholicism are inconsistent with the Church, as I for one would know.
This post is about akisment spam filters, not Christianity. Therefore, the discussion of anything outside of spam filters, ends here. Got it? Good.
Thanks Jon.
Mentioning my friend is Christian isn’t discussing Christianity.
Hi Brent,
I hate spam, other than the canned meat variety of which I have several pounds stashed away as emergency rations. People who send spam should, in my opinion, be hunted down and tortured to death. Next to trial lawyers and telemarketers, they are the lowest form of life on Earth.

Jon, I’ve just about had it with your crap dude. This is your last warning before being banned for good.
I don’t like you because you intentionally aggravate me. I suggest that you stop, or your comments will never be allowed here again. Stick to the subject matter please, as is according to the rules of my blog. If you don’t like and/or respect the rules, that is your problem, but you will not be allowed to participate anymore.
You will not dominate discussions here pal. If you want to talk about spam we can. You are very close to me considering you as being spam. Ironic isn’t it?
I want to like you and be nice to you, so let’s start over. Is your spam filter acting up?
———————————————————————————-
Hi the Grit! How have you been, my friend?
Speaking of spam, I hate it too, but I always get false positives among the spam, so I always check it. When there is nothing there, I actually see it as a bad thing. I know, it sounds goofy, but it’s true.
Okay dude, look. I’m not trying to aggravate anyone. It’s in your freaking head. If you want to ban me, go ahead, I could care less. If you don’t want me criticizing stupid posts, don’t make stupid posts. You’re not freaking Bill O’Reilly, so get over it.
Look in any thread we’ve posted together in, including this one, and you’ll plainly see that it’s YOU who posts off-topic, not me. Look at my first post in this thread, and then look at your response, and tell me which one of us posted off topic. But of course, I’m automatically at fault simply because you don’t like me. Or because you ascribe to your posts a holy aura that I’m not allowed to question for some reason.
Well guess what? Your site, your ideas, your criticisms, are meaningless. No one will remember them in a week’s time. So have a hissy fit all you want. I won’t remember you, anyway, let alone stubbing my toe on this pot-hole of a blog.
Odds are you’ll delete this post, but that’s okay. Maybe I’ll actually intentionally upset you this time, instead of doing it by accident. Some people take themselves way too seriously.
Exactly my gripe. I said I want to be nice. I’m not deleting posts from you, nor anyone, despite the fact that your anger has taken over your ability to be reasonable.
I’m not going to ban you, just to prove that I am not at all who you think I am. I’m a very nice guy. I’m reasonable.
But I ask you this: If my blog sucks so much, why do you keep returning to it? If my ideas and criticisms are so meaningless, why do you bother to place your comment in rebuttal?
I don’t believe that you truly feel this way. I think that deep down, you want it to be another way.
I’m giving you another chance to be my friend Jon, because I’m cool like that.
As far as time and readership goes, I have had many of the same readers for a few years now, both here and elsewhere. Why not join in on the fun?
It’s all about fun here.
Dude, I do not take anything seriously. That’s problematic for me, seriously! (ironic, huh?)
Lastly, let’s do ourselves a favor: why don’t we stop talking about religion? This blog is not very religious, except for the fact that I blog religiously.
“Dude, I do not take anything seriously.”
Heh. You’re funny. A post earlier you threaten to ban me. My last warning. Tired of my crap. I aggravate you. Remember?
I suspect you’re pandering to your readership by trying to make yourself the protagonist in this conversation (which you aren’t; anyone can plainly see that). It’s okay, I don’t mind.
As for religion, I’m not sure why on Earth you keep bringing that back up. I haven’t posted a single thing about religion on your blog, except for writing the word “Christian” in reference to a friend of mine.
As for why I visit your site. Well, initially I was just wondering why my comments weren’t showing up on Wit Or Wisdom, so I clicked to your site and wrote a comment, and it worked. I continue to come because you address me, and it isn’t polite to ignore that. As I said in my last post, if you’re going to ban me, obviously I can’t respond to you anymore. That doesn’t bother me, because at least it’s an honest thing to do. You don’t like me, so ban me. It’s better than beating around the bush and constantly trying to make me the bad guy. Although I have to say, you aren’t particularly adept at that either.
Hmmm. Yawn. Snore.
Wow… I had no idea… sorry about sending him over to you Brent…
I hate both kinds of spam…
man… can people really be that… dumb?
As Jeff Buckley once screamed in a song:
“Why does this keep haaaapennnin’ to me - ”
(Not, not my bad relationships with equally bad men)
But I think I’m caught in the filter!
Sorry babe. You know I love ya.
I’m having the same kind of problems with Askimet where I know for sure that someone has been posting comments to my blog and they only show up a couple or so days later in the spam section, or simply not even being shown for me to “not spam” and being directly deleted as I see the “spam caught” number increasing.
I’m also seeing my “spam caught” numbers increase before I’ve had a chance to check / moderate them.
